2024 SEC Conference Preview

The 2024 college football season will kick off in just 32 days with Week 0. However, no SEC teams will play until Week 1 with Arkansas facing Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday night. On Friday of that week, Oklahoma will take on Temple in their first game as a member of the SEC. Saturday Texas will face Colorado State in their first game as a member of the SEC. Defending SEC Champion Alabama will start their season that Saturday against Western Kentucky and SEC favorite Georgia will face Clemson. Let’s Preview the 2024 season for the SEC Conference.

Top 10 Offensive Players

10.) Wide Receiver – Isaiah Bond – Texas Longhorns

Bond transferred to Texas after spending his first two seasons in Alabama. In 27 games he hauled in 65 passes for 888 yards with five touchdowns. In 2023, he had 48 catches for 668 yards with four touchdowns; one was the walk-off touchdown against Auburn in the Iron Bowl. He finished last season 20th in the SEC in receptions, 22nd in yards, and tied for 24th in touchdowns.

9.) Quarterback – Brady Cook – Missouri Tigers

Cook is a fifth-year season, in his previous four seasons he had played in 35 games completing 572 of his 852 passes for a 67.1 completion percentage with 39 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. In 2023 he completed 244 of his 369 passes for 3,317 yards with 21 touchdowns and six interceptions. He finished fourth in completions and yards and finished sixth in touchdowns.

8.) Wide Receiver – Tre Harris – Ole Miss Rebels

Harris is a fifth-year senior who transferred to Ole Miss before the 2023 season from Louisiana Tech. At Louisiana Tech he played in 31 games hauling in 106 passes for 1,517 yards and 14 touchdowns. Last season at Ole Miss in 12 games he caught 54 passes for 985 yards and eight touchdowns. He finished tied for 14th in receptions, fifth in yards, and fourth in touchdowns.

7.) Running Back – Jarquez Hunter – Auburn Tigers

Hunter is entering his fourth season at Auburn; in 37 games he has 352 rushing attempts for 2,170 yards with 17 touchdowns. Through the air, he has hauled in 47 passes for 403 yards with three touchdowns. He has 2,573 yards from scrimmage. In 2023 he played in 12 games rushing for 909 yards on 159 attempts for seven touchdowns; he finished the season with 1,027 yards from scrimmage. Hunter finished eighth in the SEC in rushing attempts, sixth in yards, and tied for 12th in touchdowns.

6.) Quarterback – Jaxson Dart – Ole Miss Rebels

Dart transferred to Ole Miss after one season at USC where in six games he completed 117 of his 189 passes for a 61.9 completion percentage and 1,353 yards with nine touchdowns and five interceptions. In two seasons at Ole Miss, he’s played in 26 games completing 459 of his 720 yards for a 63.8 completion percentage, he had 6,338 yards with 43 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Last season, he completed 233 of his 358 passing attempts for a 65.1 percentage for 3,364 yards with 23 touchdowns and five interceptions. He finished sixth in completions in the SEC, third in yards, and tied for fourth in touchdowns.

5.) Running Back – Trevor Etienne – Georgia Bulldogs

Etienne transfers to Georgia after two seasons at Florida in which in 24 games he rushed 249 times for 1,472 yards with nine touchdowns. Last season in 11 games he ran for 753 yards on 131 carries for eight touchdowns, in the passing game he caught 21 passes for 172 yards for a touchdown giving up 925 yards from scrimmage. He was 14th in the SEC in attempts, 11th in yards, and tied for eighth in touchdowns.

4.) Quarterback – Jalen Milroe – Alabama Crimson Tide

Milroe is in his fourth season at Alabama with last season being his first season as the starting quarterback in 13 games he completed 187 passes for 2,834 yards with 23 touchdowns and six interceptions. In his college career, he’s played in 25 games completing 221 of his 344 passes for a 64.2 completion percentage with 3,172 yards with 29 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Last season he finished tenth in completions, seventh in yards, and tied for fourth in touchdowns.

3.) Quarterback – Carson Beck – Georgia Bulldogs

Beck last season like Milroe had his first full season with the reigns of one of the top programs in the country he would complete 302 of his 417 passes for a 72.4 completion percentage with 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns with six interceptions. In his Georgia career he’s played in 26 games completing 338 of his 475 passes for a 71.2 completion percentage, he’s thrown for 4,427 yards with 30 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He finished 2023 first in the SEC in completions, first in yards, and third in touchdowns.

2.) Quarterback – Quinn Ewers – Texas Longhorns

Ewers brings his Longhorns into their first season in SEC play. He joined Texas in 2022 after transferring from Ohio State, he’s played in 22 games for the Longhorns completing 444 of his 690 passes for a 64.3 completion percentage, and he’s thrown for 5,656 yards with 37 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Last season in 12 games he completed 272 of his 394 passes for a 69.0 completion percentage, throwing for 3,479 yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. If he was in the SEC last season, he would have finished third in completions, third in yards, and sixth in touchdowns.

1.) Wide Receiver – Luther Burden III – Missouri Tigers

Burden will be a junior this season, in his first two seasons he’s played in 26 games hauling in 131 passes for 1,587 yards with 15 touchdowns. Last season in 13 games he caught 86 passes for 1,212 yards, and nine touchdowns. He finished second in the SEC in receptions, third in yards, and tied for third in touchdowns.

5.) Georgia @ Ole Miss – November 9th

This matchup will feature two teams with SEC Championship Game aspirations and whichever team comes out on top could knock the other team out. It will also feature a fun quarterback matchup between Jaxson Dart and Carson Beck. Georgia leads the All-Time matchup 33-12-1.

4.) Texas @ Texas A&M – November 30th

This is a game that will renew a rivalry with Texas now in the SEC, these two haven’t played since 2011 when the Longhorns came out on top. Texas leads the All-Time matchup going 76-37-5.

3.) Texas vs. Oklahoma @ Dallas – October 12th

The Red River Rivalry will have its first battle in the SEC and it always proves to be a good game no matter the records of either team both come in fired up and ready to play their best football. Texas leads the All-Time matchups going 63-51-5.

2.) Georgia @ Alabama – September 28th

In a rematch of the 2023 SEC Championship game Alabama won and ultimately knocked Georgia out of the final four-team College Football Playoff. This could be a game where Georgia has a chance to return the favor to Alabama in their first season without Nick Saban. Alabama leads the All-Time matchup 43-26-4.

1.) Georgia @ Texas – October 19th

This just might be if everyone is healthy for the game of the year and a potential SEC Championship preview as well as a possible National Championship preview. These two teams have only matchup five times ever with Texas winning four of the five matchups, the most recent one came in 2019 in the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Championship Game Prediction

Georgia over Texas 30-24

I think Texas pulls off the upset in the regular season, but Georgia gets their revenge in the Championship game both teams will make the College Football Playoff and just may even face off in a semifinal matchup with the winner advancing to the National Championship.
