Hurricanes To Watch:
Offense: Running Back – Damien Martinez – Junior
Martinez will be relied upon as he is taking on the 15th-ranked rush defense in the ACC, that’s one of the worst. They rank behind Duke and just ahead of Wake Forest which Martinez had 64.5 on average between those two games. The other defense ranked behind Syracuse is Florida State who Martinez had 148 yards and two touchdowns against. Look for him to have over 100 yards and take the pressure off the passing game and Cam Ward.
Defense: Defensive Back – Mishael Powell – Senior
Powell faces a quarterback in McCord who leads the country in passing yards, look for him to get a takeaway as McCord has thrown 12 interceptions this season, and he’ll get the ball back for Canes’ explosive offense.
Bottom Line: ACC Championship Appearance on the Line
The Hurricanes with a win can play for the ACC Championship and an automatic berth in the College Football Playoff with a win, if not it opens the door for Clemson to play and would likely end Miami’s shot at the Championship. The offense is explosive but the defense could be what costs them, they need that unit to tighten up.
