Texas Longhorns Players To Watch:
Offense: Running Back – Jerrick Gibson – Freshman
Gibson shared the backfield with Jaydon Blue as both combined for 21 carries, but Gibson averaged more yards on the ground, for Texas to open up their explosive passing attack to win this game they’ll need to run the ball and Gibson seems to be a key to that.
Defense: Linebacker – Anthony Hill Jr. – Sophomore
Hill in week one had five tackles in Texas’ win and now he will have the task of leading this defense in trying to slow down the Michigan running attack and will also need to contain Alex Orji when he comes into the game.
Michigan Wolverines Players To Watch:
Offense: Running Back – Kalel Mullings – Senior
Entering the season the hype was on Donovan Edwards, but Kalel Mullings took over the Wolverines rushing attack in week one as he led the team in carries and finished just shy of 100 yards. If Mullings can get going, he may be a big part of Michigan pulling off the upset of a top-five team.
Defense: Defensive Back – Will Johnson – Junior
Johnson in week one recorded three tackles and had a pick-six that secured the win for Michigan. He will be a key to the Michigan defense as he tries to lead the secondary in slowing down the Texas passing attack.
Bottom Line: Game of the Week
This is the best game on the Week Two slate as two top-ten teams go face to face. Michigan is the defending champs and the Longhorns are one of the favorites to win the Championship. It’s only Week Two and both these teams can make the college football playoff no matter what happens in this one but a win in this game will go a long way into what seed either team ends up with in the college football playoff.
