The Defending National Champions have had a rough season to this point going 5-3 losing to Texas, Washington, and Illinois but they are coming off a win in a rivalry game as they defeated Michigan State 24-17. The biggest issue this season for Michigan has been the defense not looking like they were expected to and the struggle at the quarterback position as the Wolverines have had three different signal callers starting with Davis Warren to start the season, they then made a change to Alex Orgi before turning to Jack Tuttle but after Tuttle lost the two games to Washington and Illinois the Wolverines went back to Warren. Last night, Tuttle announced that after sustaining his fifth concussion he was prioritizing his health, and he would be retiring from the game of football.
Tuttle was in his sixth season in college having started his career with Indiana where he combined to play in 15 games throwing for 901 yards on 104 completions for a 57.1 completion percentage, he had five touchdowns and six interceptions; he would also rush for 82 yards on 50 carries. He would transfer to Michigan where last season he appeared in six games throwing for 130 yards on 15 completions for an 88.2 completion percentage, he had one touchdown and no interceptions; he also had four carries for 35 yards. This season in the two games he started he threw for 306 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, and he ran for four yards on 15 carries. Wrapping up his collegiate career he played in 23 total games throwing for 1,337 yards with seven touchdowns and eight interceptions.
The Wolverines have a big game coming up this weekend against the number one team in the country the Oregon Ducks, it appears that Warren will be the quarterback under center for that one as the Wolverines look to upset the top-ranked Ducks and hand them their first loss not just of the season but as a member of the Big Ten.
