2024 Detroit Lions Team Captains

The 2024 NFL season starts on Thursday with the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs kicking things off. On Friday, the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers will play in Brazil then on Sunday the rest of the teams except the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers who play Monday will kick off their seasons. The Detroit Lions will face the Los Angeles Rams who they beat in the NFC Wild Card round 24-23 to advance to the Divisional round. Over the weekend, the Lions 2024 season captains were announced: Alex Anzalone, Penei Sewell, Aidan Hutchinson, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Jared Goff, and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Linebacker – Alex Anzalone

Anzalone will be entering his fourth season with the Lions, in his first three seasons he’s played in 47 games recording 332 tackles, 211 were solo and 121 assisted; he has two interceptions, one forced fumble, two recovered fumbles, and 5.5 sacks. In 2023 he played in 16 regular season games recording 129 tackles, 85 solo with three sacks; he had one fumble recovery, seven tackles for loss, and 12 hits on the quarterback.

Offensive Lineman – Penei Sewell

Sewell is in his fourth season with the Lions after they drafted him seventh overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. In 50 games he’s recording 3,359 snaps on offense and has only recorded 21 penalties with nine of those as holding, 11 as false starts, and four that were declined or offsetting; he has also recorded a reception which was for nine yards. Last season he played in 1,178 snaps and had just six penalties four for holding and two for false starts.

Defensive End – Aidan Hutchinson

Hutchinson enters his third season after the Lions drafted him second overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. In his first two seasons, he’s played in 34 games recording 21 sacks with four interceptions; he has 103 total tackles with 70 of them being solo, he also had 23 tackles for loss and 48 quarterback hits. Last season in 17 regular-season games he had one interception, 11.5 sacks, 51 total tackles 36 solo, 14 tackles for loss, and 33 quarterback hits.

Lineback – Jalen Reeves-Maybin

Reeves-Maybin has played in 87 games over two tenures with the Lions he has eight pass deflections, two fumble recoveries, 192 total tackles, 136 solo, nine tackles for a loss, and five quarterback hits. Last season in 17 regular-season games he had two pass deflections, one sack, and 20 total tackles with 13 of those being solo, one tackle for a loss, and two quarterback hits.

Quarterback – Jared Goff

Goff is in his fourth season with the Lions. In his first three seasons he’s played in 48 games throwing for 12,258 yards with a 66.5 completion percentage, he had 78 touchdowns, and 27 interceptions. In 2023 he threw for 4,575 yards with a 67.3 completion percentage he had 30 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Wide Receiver – Amon-Ra St. Brown

St. Brown was drafted by the Lions 112th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft. In his first three seasons, he has 315 catches for 3,588 yards with 21 touchdowns. Last season he hauled in 119 passes for 1,515 yards a career-high and he had ten touchdowns also a career-high.
