Week 2 Top 25

Week One of the College Football Season has come and gone and the Associated Press’ updated Top 25 has been released.

1.) Georgia Bulldogs (1-0)

Week 1: Win over Clemson 34-3

The Bulldogs came out slow only putting up six points in the first half but in the second half they rolled putting up 28 points.

Next Up: Saturday vs. Tennessee Tech 2:00 PM EST

2.) Ohio State Buckeyes (1-0)

Week 1: Win over Akron 52-6

The Buckeyes are one of the National Title favorites and they handled their business against Akron as Will Howard threw for 228 yards with three touchdowns. The double-headed backfield of TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins combined to rush for 120 yards and one touchdown.

Next Up: Saturday vs. Western Michigan 7:30 PM EST

3.) Texas Longhorns (1-0)

    Week 1: Win over Colorado State 52-0

    The Longhorns in their first game as a member of the SEC posted a shutout over Colorado State. Quinn Ewers threw for 260 yards and Jerrick Gibson took over on the ground rushing for 67 yards and a touchdown.

    4.) Alabama Crimson Tide (1-0)

      Week 1: Win 63-0 over Western Kentucky

      The Kalen DeBoer era at Alabama kicked off with a shutout. The offense was fueled by the run game rushing for 334 yards on 47 carries, Justice Haynes led the way with 102 yards on four carries and he had one touchdown. Jalen Milroe ran for 79 yards on ten carries with two touchdowns.

      5.) Notre Dame Fighting Irish (1-0)

      Week 1: Win over Texas A&M 23-13

      The Fighting Irish took care of business in one of their toughest matchups of the 2024 season and it was behind a big fourth quarter.

      6.) Ole Miss Rebels (1-0)

      Week 1: Win over Furman 76-0

      The Rebels offense exploded against Furman and took care of business as Jaxson Dart threw for 418 yards and five touchdowns. Tre Harris was the top receiver with 179 yards on eight catches with two touchdowns.

      Next Up: Saturday vs. Middle Tennessee 4:15 PM EST

      7.) Oregon Ducks (1-0)

      Week 1: Win over Idaho 24-14

      The Ducks another favorite to win the title struggled in their opener as they defeated Idaho 24-14. Gabriel who is a Heisman favorite threw for 380 yards with two touchdowns to his top receiver Tez Johnson who had 12 catches for 81 yards.

      8.) Penn State Nittany Lions (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over West Virginia 34-12

        The Nittany Lions first game had many thinking upset but Penn State took care of business, as Drew Allar threw for 216 yards with three touchdowns and Nicholas Singleton ran wild rushing for 114 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown.

        9.) Missouri Tigers (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Murray State 51-0

        The Tigers did exactly what was expected as Brady Cook threw for 218 yards and a touchdown.

        10.) Michigan Wolverines (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Fresno State 30-10

        The Wolverines offense looks to be a problem again in 2024 but the offense had its struggles as Davis Warren got the QB1 job and he threw for 118 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

        11.) Utah Utes (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Southern Utah 49-0

        The Utes had Cam Rising back on the field and he threw for five touchdowns en route to the win.

        12.) Miami Hurricanes (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Florida 41-17

        The Hurricanes may just have found their quarterback as Cam Ward threw for 385 yards with three touchdowns. He also has his number one target in Xavier Restrepo as he caught seven passes for 112 yards with a touchdown.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Florida A&M 6:00 PM EST

        13.) USC Trojans (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over LSU 27-20

        USC in their first game as a member of the Big Ten handled an SEC team as Miller Moss threw for 378 yards with a touchdown.

        14.) Tennessee Volunteers (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Chattanooga 69-3

        The Volunteers handled Chattanooga behind Nico Iamaleava throwing for 314 yards and three touchdowns as well as Dylan Sampson rushing for 124 yards and three touchdowns.

        Next Up: Saturday @ NC State 7:30 PM EST

        15.) Oklahoma Sooners (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Temple 51-3

        The Sooners kicked off their SEC chapter with a win as Jackson Arnold threw for four touchdowns as they roughed up Temple.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Houston 7:45 PM EST

        16.) Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over South Dakota State 44-20

        Ollie Gordon a Heisman favorite ran for 104 yards to kick off his 2024 campaign with two touchdowns.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Arkansas 12:00 PM

        17.) Kansas State Wildcats (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over UT Martin 41-6

        The Wildcats jumped out to a 14-0 lead and never looked back behind DJ Giddens rushing for 124 yards on 13 carries.

        18.) LSU Tigers (0-1)

        Week 1: Loss to USC 27-20

        The Tigers for the fifth straight season dropped their season opener as they couldn’t build on their lead in the fourth quarter, and it opened the door for USC.

        19.) Kansas Jayhawks (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Lindenwood 48-3

        The Jayhawks backfield ran wild rushing for 351 yards on 44 carries with Devin Neal leading the way with 112 rushing yards on eight carries and two touchdowns.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Illinois 7:00 PM EST

        20.) Arizona Wildcats (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over New Mexico 61-39

        The Wildcats have a quarterback who could give them a chance to win the Big 12 in Noah Fifita who threw for 422 yards with four touchdowns. They also have one of the top wide receivers in the country in Tetairoa McMillan who caught ten passes for 304 yards and four touchdowns.

        21.) Iowa Hawkeyes (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Illinois State 40-0

        The Hawkeyes defense showed up to start the season and the offense actually did their job as Cade McNamara threw for 251 yards with three touchdowns and Kaleb Johnson had 119 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Iowa State 3:30 PM EST

        22.) Louisville Cardinals (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Austin Peay 62-0

        The Cardinals Tyler Shough threw four passing touchdowns and looked good for Louisville.

        23.) Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (2-0)

        Week 0: Win over Florida State 24-21
        Week 1: Win over Georgia State 35-12

        The Yellow Jackets may just have something in their backfield in Jamal Haynes who in the two games combined to rush for 159 yards on 28 carries and three touchdowns. Haynes King has also looked good throwing for 421 yards in the first two games.

        24.) NC State Wolfpack (1-0)

        Week 1: Win over Western Carolina 38-21

        The Wolfpack have a quarterback in Grayson McCall that will allow them to compete in the ACC, he threw for 318 yards with three touchdowns. Jordan Water chimed in with 123 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

        Next Up: Saturday vs. Tennessee 7:30 PM EST

        25.) Clemson Tigers (0-1)

        Week 1: Loss to Georgia 34-3

        The Tigers ran into one of the best teams in the country in Georgia and the offense just couldn’t get going against a talented Georgia defense.
