What Decides It

The Saints' home record is the trend that should worry New Orleans backers most.

New Orleans has lost all four games at the Superdome, falling 16-10, 23-13, 45-24 and 35-27. Its only win in the last five came on the road, 34-27.

Cleveland's split runs the other way. The Browns are 2-3 away from home, and their most recent road trip ended in a 27-6 loss. The road game before that was a 27-24 win, so this team has shown it can travel.

Watson's status could reshape a Cleveland offense that already struggles to score.

Deshaun Watson is questionable with a concussion. He has thrown for 1,806 yards with 7 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, and the Browns still average only about 17 points a game.

If Watson cannot go, the run game has to carry more of the load. Quinshon Judkins leads Cleveland with 342 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns.

Both run defenses leak, and the Browns draw the softer one.

The Saints allow nearly 140 rushing yards a game, the worse run defense of the two. Cleveland runs for nearly 98 a game, so Judkins gets the friendlier matchup on the ground.

New Orleans faces a Browns run defense allowing nearly 127 a game, but the Saints run for just 86 a game and will be without running back CJ Donaldson. That pushes them toward Tyler Shough, and New Orleans throws for nearly 246 yards a game against a Cleveland pass defense allowing nearly 215.

Prediction

The Saints have not won at home, and their run defense gives Cleveland a path that does not depend on who plays quarterback. New Orleans scores 23.1 points a game but allows 27.7, while the Browns allow 21.6, and that defensive edge should matter in a low-scoring game. Browns win a close one and the total stays under 42.5.
