Detroit Lions Linked to Cornerback

Detroit Lions linked to Cornerback

The Detroit Lions entering this offseason will look to address their defensive line as well as their secondary. They currently have four secondary players set to hit free agency Emmanuel Moseley, Kindle Vildor, Will Harris, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. The Lions ranked 27th in the league in passing yards per game allowed with 247.4, in the playoffs they finished 13th out of 14 in passing yards allowed per game with 311.3. In their run to the NFC Championship game, they allowed over 100 yards to an opposing team’s receiver in two games with Puka Nakua having 181 yards on nine catches and Mike Evans having 147 yards on eight catches. Addressing that number one corner spot will be important and there just might be a player available who could fit the need. The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl champions now becoming the first back-to-back champ since the New England Patriots did it in the early 2000s. They have a cornerback in L’Jarius Sneed who they are going to use their franchise tag on and look to trade for either a second or a third-round pick. The Lions currently hold the 61st overall pick in round two and the 73rd and 92nd picks in the third round, will one of those work for the Chiefs to give the Lions a true number one corner?

L’Jarius Sneed By The Numbers

Sneed will be entering his fifth season and for his career, he has ten interceptions as well as 40 pass deflections. He has recorded 303 total tackles on 223 solo and 80 assists as well as 19 tackles for a loss, 13 quarterback hits, and 6.5 sacks. In 2023 he played in 16 games recording two interceptions, a career-high 14 pass deflections, one fumble recovery, and 78 total tackles. Sneed just might be the perfect fit for the Lions secondary that could be the piece to get them over the top and make it to the Super Bowl.
