The Houston Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 34-31 at Wembley Stadium when Ka'imi Fairbairn hit a 49-yard field goal as time expired. Houston earned the chance through efficiency, gaining more than 7 yards a play to Jacksonville's 6.

How It Happened

C.J. Stroud opened the scoring with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Foster Moreau at 5:13 of the first quarter. It was the only score of the period, and Houston led 7-0.

The second quarter produced four scores. Trevor Lawrence tied it with a 27-yard touchdown pass to Bhayshul Tuten, and Fairbairn's 25-yard field goal put Houston back in front at 10-7.

Lawrence found Tuten again from 2 yards out with 55 seconds left in the half, giving Jacksonville its first lead at 14-10. Houston answered almost immediately. Stroud hit Moreau from 1 yard out with 8 seconds left, and the Texans went to the break up 17-14.

Stroud's third touchdown pass, a 13-yarder to Jaylin Noel, stretched the lead to 24-14 in the third quarter. Lawrence replied with a 1-yard score to Nate Boerkircher, but Jawhar Jordan broke a 25-yard touchdown run with 50 seconds left in the quarter to restore a 10-point lead.

Jacksonville came all the way back in the fourth. Lawrence threw his fourth touchdown pass, a 7-yarder to Travis Hunter, to cut the deficit to 3 points. Cam Little then tied it with a 60-yard field goal at 1:55.

Fairbairn's 49-yarder went through with no time on the clock.

Key Performers

C.J. Stroud, HOU: 3 passing TD (6, 1 and 13 YDS)
Ka'imi Fairbairn, HOU: FG of 25 and 49 YDS, 4 extra points
Trevor Lawrence, JAX: 4 passing TD (27, 2, 1 and 7 YDS)
Bhayshul Tuten, JAX: 2 receiving TD (27 and 2 YDS)

Houston passing: 24-34, 312 YDS, 1 INT
Houston rushing: 25 ATT, 114 YDS
Jacksonville passing: 24-41, 306 YDS, 1 INT
Jacksonville rushing: 27 ATT, 106 YDS

The passing totals look even, but Houston got there on 7 fewer attempts. The Texans averaged about 9 yards per pass, a full yard-plus better than Jacksonville.

Jacksonville had the better day on third down and held the ball slightly longer. Neither quarterback was sacked, and each side threw 1 interception, so the game came down to who did more with each snap. That was Houston.

Penalties tilted toward the Texans as well. Jacksonville was flagged for 66 yards, and Houston picked up 4 first downs by penalty to the Jaguars' 1.

What It Means

Houston improves to 2-4, and both wins have come away from home. The Texans are 0-3 at home and 2-1 on the road, a split that makes them look like two different teams depending on the venue.

The road version showed up in London. It put up 34 points without a sack allowed and closed a game it had nearly let slip. Until Houston wins at home, the road record is the more reliable read on this team.

Jacksonville falls to 4-2 and still holds the better record of the two. Lawrence's 4 touchdown passes and Little's 60-yarder were enough to erase a 10-point deficit, but not enough to stop the clock from running out on them.
