The Seattle Seahawks beat the Los Angeles Chargers 30-23 on Sunday at Lumen Field. Seattle built its lead in the second quarter, then held off a fourth-quarter rally.
Los Angeles threw 2 interceptions and lost 2 fumbles. Seattle turned it over once. The Chargers outgained the Seahawks and held the ball slightly longer, but Seattle was more efficient on a per-play basis.
How It Happened
The Chargers struck first. Cameron Dicker hit a 40-yard field goal at 11:54 of the first quarter. Seattle answered two minutes later when Sam Darnold found Emanuel Wilson for a 23-yard touchdown.
The second quarter belonged to Seattle. Rashid Shaheed ran 28 yards for a score at 6:12, though Jason Myers missed the extra point. Wilson then punched in an 8-yard touchdown run with 43 seconds left in the half.
Dicker trimmed the deficit with a 39-yard field goal as the half expired. Even so, Seattle went to the locker room with a comfortable cushion.
Darnold stretched the lead early in the third quarter, hitting Tory Horton for a 6-yard touchdown at 10:23. Justin Herbert responded with a 9-yard scoring pass to Kimani Vidal at 4:53. Myers added a 35-yard field goal late in the quarter.
The Chargers made it a game in the fourth. Omarion Hampton scored on a 2-yard run at 7:48, and Dicker's 36-yard field goal at 2:14 cut the gap to a single score. That missed extra point from the second quarter left the door open for a tying touchdown, but Los Angeles did not score again.

What It Means
Seattle improves to 3-1, and the home split is the story. The Seahawks are 2-0 at Lumen Field and 1-1 on the road. Four games is a small sample, but so far Seattle has not lost in front of its own crowd.
This was not a clean win. Seattle was flagged 14 times for 150 yards and converted just 3 of 12 third downs. The Seahawks offset that by turning it over only once.
The Chargers fall to 0-4, winless both at home and on the road. They were penalized 16 times for 130 yards on top of the turnovers. Los Angeles ran the ball productively, but the mistakes piled up.
