Ohio State fell from No. 2 to No. 11 in the AP Top 25 after losing 30-18 at USC, the biggest drop among teams still ranked. Georgia moved up to No. 2, and unbeaten Utah jumped into the top 3.

The Top 5

Miami stays No. 1 with 62 of 70 first-place votes after a 38-35 escape at North Carolina. Georgia climbed to No. 2 with 7 first-place votes, and Utah took the other one after rising 3 spots to No. 3.

Notre Dame moved up to No. 4, edging UCLA by a handful of points. UCLA rose 2 spots to No. 5, while Indiana slipped 2 spots to No. 6 despite beating Minnesota 23-16 at home.

One Upset Rewrote the Top 11

USC's 30-18 home win over then-No. 2 Ohio State was the result that shook this poll. The Trojans, unranked last week, entered at 7-2. The Buckeyes, now 6-2, landed at No. 11.

Every team that sat behind Ohio State in the top 11 last week is now ahead of it. That includes Kentucky and Alabama, which were both on bye weeks, and Texas, which beat Mississippi State 31-3 at home to move up to No. 10.

The Buckeyes don't get a soft landing. They host Oregon, which is receiving votes after a 34-26 home win over then-No. 20 Northwestern.

Utah Belongs in the Top 3

Utah is 8-0 and won 49-25 at Cincinnati, a road result that leaves nothing to argue with. The Utes are one of only 3 unbeaten teams in the poll, alongside Miami and UCLA.

Utah's most recent week looked stronger than Miami's. The Hurricanes won by 3 points at North Carolina, while Utah won by 24 on the road. Miami keeps the top spot, but Utah's climb is earned.

UCLA's case is similar. The Bruins shut out Nevada 27-0 at home and moved past Indiana, which won by a single score against Minnesota.

Losses, Not Wins, Turned Over the Bottom of the Poll

Four teams dropped out and all 4 lost. SMU fell 30-27 at Syracuse, Northwestern lost 34-26 at Oregon, Oklahoma State lost a 51-49 shootout at Iowa State, and Wisconsin was shut out 30-0 at Iowa.

Iowa's win over Wisconsin moved the Hawkeyes into the poll at No. 21 with a 6-2 record. South Carolina also entered, at No. 23, after a 42-25 win at Oklahoma, and New Mexico came in at No. 22 after winning 21-16 at San José State.

Missouri posted the biggest climb among teams ranked in both polls, up 4 spots to No. 19 after a 34-10 win at Arkansas. Florida went the other way, falling 8 spots to No. 25 after a 27-8 loss to Georgia at a neutral site. Arizona slid 2 spots to No. 24 after losing 34-26 at Texas Tech.

Games That Will Move Next Week's Poll

Six ranked matchups are set for Saturday, November 7, and the top of the poll is directly on the line.

No. 1 Miami at No. 4 Notre Dame: The Hurricanes put their unbeaten record and their grip on first-place votes on the road.
No. 7 BYU at No. 3 Utah: Utah puts its unbeaten record on the line against a 7-1 BYU side that beat Arizona State 27-20.
No. 2 Georgia at No. 12 Ole Miss: Ole Miss enters off a 45-15 home win over Auburn.
No. 10 Texas at No. 19 Missouri: Missouri gets a chance to back up its climb at home.
No. 9 Alabama at No. 15 LSU: Both teams come off bye weeks.
No. 8 Kentucky at No. 16 Tennessee: Another pair coming off byes, with Kentucky trying to hold a top-8 spot on the road.
