No. 23 Missouri beat Arkansas 34-10 Saturday night at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Arkansas could not hold onto the football. The Razorbacks lost 3 fumbles and threw an interception, while Missouri turned the ball over just once.

The turnovers were not the only gap. Missouri ran for 211 yards at 6 yards a carry. Arkansas managed 59 yards on 36 attempts, under 2 yards a pop, which left its offense one-dimensional all night.

How It Happened

Blake Craig opened the scoring with a 31-yard field goal at 5:33 of the first quarter. Less than two minutes later, Darris Smith scooped up an Arkansas fumble and took it in for a touchdown, and Missouri led 10-0 before the Razorbacks found any rhythm.

Craig added a 53-yard field goal at 9:00 of the second quarter to make it 13-0. Arkansas finally answered with 41 seconds left in the half, when KJ Jackson ran it in from 2 yards out. Max Gilbert's kick cut the deficit to 13-7 at the break.

That was as close as it got. Missouri scored twice in barely a minute early in the third quarter. Austin Simmons found Donovan Olugbode for a 15-yard touchdown at 10:53, and Jamal Roberts ran in from 2 yards at 9:47 to blow the game open.

Gilbert hit a 32-yard field goal at 14:56 of the fourth quarter. Simmons closed it out at 7:19, hitting Roberts for a 10-yard touchdown.

Roberts was the most versatile threat on the field, scoring once on the ground and once through the air.

What It Means

Missouri improves to 6-2 and did what a ranked team should do against an unranked opponent on the road. Arkansas actually won the passing battle, but the Tigers' run game and the turnover margin made that irrelevant.

The win also matters for how Missouri travels. The Tigers are 4-0 at home and now 2-2 away, so a comfortable road result is the kind of evidence their ranking needs. Holding the ball for 31:45 and converting 2 of 3 fourth downs shows a team that controlled the game rather than surviving it.

Arkansas drops to 3-5 and 2-3 at home. The Razorbacks converted 8 of 17 third downs and moved the ball through the air, but a ground game this ineffective and a giveaway total this high will beat them against almost anyone.
