What Decides It

Baltimore's skid has come with its offense going quiet. The Ravens scored 10, 13 and 10 points in their last three games. Two of those were lopsided: a 36-10 road loss last week and a 35-13 defeat at home the week before.

That output sits well below Baltimore's season average of about 22 points a game. Until the offense finds points again, it is hard to see the Ravens keeping pace with a team that has been scoring freely.

The matchup that should decide it is Derrick Henry against Jacksonville's run defense. Baltimore runs for nearly 134 yards a game, and Henry carries the load with 632 yards and 8 touchdowns. Jacksonville allows about 77 rushing yards a game, so this is strength meeting strength.

If the Jaguars hold Henry in check, Baltimore has to throw. On paper the opening is there: Jacksonville's pass defense gives up about 264 yards a game, far more than its run defense allows, and more than the roughly 223 passing yards Baltimore averages.

Whether the Ravens can cash that in is the open question. Their passing leader, Joe Fagnano, is 10 of 21 for 91 yards and 1 interception, and quarterback Tyler Huntley is listed as doubtful with a toe injury.

Jacksonville is the more complete team on both sides of the ball. The Jaguars average 28 points a game, while Baltimore allows about 25. Trevor Lawrence has thrown 17 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, which keeps drives alive and points on the board.

The Jaguars also have the better of it on the ground at the other end. They run for about 123 yards a game against a Baltimore defense allowing about 103, giving Bhayshul Tuten room to keep Lawrence in favorable situations.

Players to Watch

Jacksonville Jaguars

Passing: Trevor Lawrence – 130-198, 1,690 YDS, 17-4 (TD-INT)
Rushing: Bhayshul Tuten – 110 ATT, 492 YDS, 3 TD
Receiving: Parker Washington – 27 REC, 432 YDS, 4 TD

Baltimore Ravens

Passing: Joe Fagnano – 10-21, 91 YDS, 1 INT
Rushing: Derrick Henry – 158 ATT, 632 YDS, 8 TD
Receiving: Zay Flowers – 40 REC, 608 YDS, 3 TD

Flowers looks like the Ravens' clearest path to attacking the Jaguars through the air, and Washington is Jacksonville's receiving leader.

Prediction

Jacksonville's run defense is built to blunt Henry, and Baltimore has not shown it can score enough to win any other way during this skid. Lawrence protects the ball, and the Jaguars defense does the rest. Jaguars 24, Ravens 13 — Jacksonville covers the 10 and the game stays under 40.5.
